As part of the work that Espolea does on harm reduction, clear and objective information has always been a priority because we constantly perceive, for various reasons and in different scenarios, a real need to fill those gaps that hinder a full view on the subject of drugs and its incredible vastness and diversity. For this reason we have developed a map as a teaching tool for navigation between the different types of psychoactive substances and their effects in a fast, clear and friendly manner. The information empowers you to make conscious and responsible decisions about your body, mind and environment. Here is a glimpse of the vast Universe of Drugs.

This map does not pretend to encompass all existing substances but helps give a good idea of the most commonly used and how they correlate among them as the arrangement and distribution of each substance in the graph corresponds to its purpose, intensity and power in proportion to the other substances in each group. Having this frame of reference about the potency and the effects of different substances as a tool available to any interested person can help them make better informed decisions and have better references, walking in the dark always carries greater risks. Learn and share!

Who decided to put Salvia Divinorum on a level of effectiveness below LSD and Psylocybin? According to my experience, SD far exceeded the other two in terms of intensity and total immersion in another state of existence.

That decision was made based on the doses required for the effects and the nature of the molecule... LSD is measured in micrograms while Salvia is measured in milligrams, the intensity of the Salvia trip depends on the intensity of the extract you use, if you took an equivalent dose of LSD, the intensity would be far more powerful and it would last up to 18 hours versus the 5-15 minutes of the Salvia trip... even though Psilocybin is also measured in milligrams, the effects can last several hours and if you increase the dosage you can have a DMT-like experience very similar to Ayahuasca both in duration and intensity, on top of that, there's far more confusion and weirdness with the Salvia experience so, one could argue that you can benefit far less from the "psychedelic-ness" of the trip... thanks for the input and I hope this clarifies a little bit the situation... :)

Im curious, what do the individual shapes represent?
Why do Inhalents occupy 18 shapes while DXM occupies 1.

Also, there is no key for what proximity to the center of the map represents...

The size or "number" of individual shapes was kind of arbitrary, it was a designer decision based on the text, or the number of characters for each specific substance name, we'll probably fix that for the new website... and thanks for the observation of the lack of key regarding proximity to the center... the THC at the center was placed there because it can have different effects depending on the person, the dosage, the method of administration and several other factors which make it really difficult to classify it within any of the four major groups, in this sense, proximity to the center (and variation in color) relates to the blending between different effects, and in some sense the decrease of potency... so, caffeine is less stimulant than meth and nitrous oxide is less psychedelic than DMT... :) Does that makes it any clearer??

Thanks! Yes It does. I would try finding a use for the number of shapes occupied is its only natural that people assume it has weight in the map. Good work!

really like this ! few things are a little off,, ibogaine is definitely more tryptamine then phenethylamine so should be more left of lsd, because apart from that they match up perfectly, very interesting how chemical compositions relate to effects.... me gusta mucho gracias !

Thanks Dan!! Ibogaine is actually a stimulant in low doses, that is why we placed it a little more to the right, you also need to take a lot more (proportionally to LSD or DMT) to get a full psychedelic experience and that is why it is closer to the center... :) Glad you liked it... wait 'till you see the interactive full version we're still cooking... Cheers!
